Almere - july 15

Heading west under sunny skies and light winds. Unreal dedicated bike trail, with safe rotaries, through city and over increasingly wetter terrain. 1.5 euro grocery store breakfast of yogurt, croissant and a banana. Cute town of elburg (synagogue), and at a point where 100m of bike path was getting rebuilt, they closed half the road so bikes could get by. Imagine. Flat, flat riding, some with a tailwind into almere. Detoured to see the wadden sea, looks perfect. Almere is less than 50 years old - all landfill, 225k residents, lots of canals and bike-only streets; interesting concept. Stayed at best western with a (closed) pool, free fruit and a free drink. 54 miles.
