Amsterdam 2 - Aug 4, 5

Couple extra days in Amsterdam, originally planned to pack my bike which I'll now do at the airport. Because they sell boxes there obviously.

Sunday, walked natalie to the train then a ride out to the beach. Through the leafy Volkstuinvereniging Sloterdijkermeer neighborhood (?), past a working 1632 windmill, through some pretty parks west of the city and into Haarlem. Cool repurposed prison (offices, movie theatre). Then onto the beach and formula 1 track (closed to bikes). North through the dunes and WW2 bunkers, got a little lost in a forest and then back to Amsterdam. 52 miles

Monday started out with 4 glasgows, west towards haarlem, then turned south along a pretty canal with fancy houseboats. Through the amsterdam woods (another large park not very far from the mayhem) and east to ouderkirk. Neat little town with an old school ferry, and the beit haim portugese cemetery dating to 1614. After lunch headed north along the amstel, ultimately crossing the channel into north amsterdam and the bizarre art/spray painted ndsm former shipyard. Took free ferry back to central. All directions covered in big loop around the city. 37 miles

Tuesday a final ride to schipol. 11 miles. Pushed the total miles to 759, 4th longest tour ever (2nd longest if you include the wadden miles). Been a good adventure.
